Mr. Vishnu Ramachandran, a student of M. Sc. Zoology of our College has been selected for the prestigious Summer Research Fellowship of the Science Academies of India for the year 2017.  He will undertake a two months training visit to the Centre for Advanced Studies in Biochemistry at the University of Calcutta in Kolkota during April-May 2017.  He will receive training on antibiotic resistance mechanisms of pathogenic bacteria as part of the fellowship, under the supervision of Prof. (Dr.) Sanghamitra Sengupta.  The fellowship includes a stipend of Rs 8000/- per month, apart from to and fro rail-fare,

            It is for the first time that a student from our College has been selected for this prestigious national level fellowship.  The Summer Research Fellowship Programme is a joint initiative of the three Science Academies of India namely, the Indian Academy of Sciences, Bangalore, Indian National Science Academy, New Delhi and the National Science Academy of India, Allahabad.  It has been designed with a view to promote interest in basic sciences among students of our Country.

            Mr. Vishnu is the son of Mr. Ramachandra Kurup and Mrs. Lathadevi and is a native of Kakkazham in Ambalappuzha.  He had secured First Rank from the University of Kerala for B. Sc. in Zoology from our College itself during 2015.
