Basic Amenities
Sanatana Dharma College Campus provides all basic amenities viz., safe drinking water, clean toilets, uninterrupted power supply and provision of water for purposes other than drinking. There are adequate number of toilets equipped with latest fittings, modern anti-skid flooring and exhaust fans. Special provisions (ramps and special toilets) have been made for persons with disability. Sanitation and hygiene are ensured by proper maintenance and cleanliness of toilets. The institution has a dedicated housekeeping and maintenance team to sustain these facilities. Disposal of waste from toilets is hygienic and regular.
Ladies’ Waiting Shed – A Ladies’ Waiting Shed is fully functional in the college campus. It includes a common room for girl students along with attached toilet facility. A Women’s Rest Room has been constructed in the campus, sponsored by Sri. G. Sudhakaran (Former MLA, Ambalappuzha & Mininter of Public Works-2006-21) from his MLA fund. The rest room is well furnished, has two attached toilets and is equipped with a water purifier and a pad vending machine.
Canteen – Canteenfacility is available within the college campus. The canteen serves snacks, refreshments and freshly prepared meals at reasonable rates to students and staff members. Afternoon meals are provided to students at special subsidized rates. The canteen has adequate seating facility and clean surroundings.
Cooperative Store – A Cooperative Store functioning in the campus ensures the availability of text books, note books and other stationery at reasonable prices. All staff members of the institution have membership in the cooperative store. Students can purchase books, study materials and other essentials from the store throughout working hours. The store also offers facility for Photostatting. Masks, sanitizers, sanitary pads, soap and other hygiene products are readily available in the store.
College Hostel
The Sanatana Dharma College Ladies Hostel provides accommodation for 150 girl students. The hostel facilities include a library with over 350 books, Mess Hall, Cable TV connection and free WiFi. Two Malayalam Newspapers and one English daily are provided. The Hostel also provides resources for recreational activities like badminton and carroms. Dr. Sreeranjini S. of the Department of Botany is the hostel warden. The warden, the matron and the student representatives take care of the day-to-day administration of the hostel.
Day Care Centre
The Sanatana Dharma Day Care Centre is a UGC funded project established with infrastructure support from the Management. The centre was inaugurated in November 2014 by the then Manager Sri. J. Krishnan. The initiative was started as a means of support for the children of the college staff and students. The centre has a capacity to accommodate 50 children. It runs with two permanent employees who take good care of the children. The centre was closed in 2019-20 due to Covid restrictions and has reopened in accordance with Government directives.
General Library
A well-maintained library with more than 50,000 books and periodicals, e-journals and e-books, e-cataloguing system, automated book lending system and connectivity to N-LIST/INFLIBNET, is the centre for learning in the campus. The library offers browsing facility for over 30 students (at a time) during working hours. Separate sections for book reference, periodicals and dailies, e-reference and borrowable books are there in the library. A spacious reading room is also among the facilities offered by the library. E- cataloguing enables students to access the library catalogue from their mobile phones throughout working hours. Apart from the General Library, all P.G & Research Departments have separate PG Libraries with easy access to resources.
Physical Education Training Centre
A well-equipped physical education training centre is another key amenity in the S.D. College Campus. The centre includes equipment for exercise and physical fitness and also equipment for sports and games. The playgrounds in the campus are spacious and used for games including football, volleyball and badminton. The college has developed a Cricket ground in collaboration with the Kerala Cricket Association. The amenities at the ground include a players’ pavilion, a complex for women players and an indoor net practice facility. Outside the ground, there are three turf wickets, an Astro turf wicket and four concrete wickets for practice. A gymnasium and a shuttle badminton court have also been set up.
Counselling Centre
A counselling centre is functional on the campus on select days of the week and on need basis. Students discuss their issues with the faculty and class tutors, and are referred for counselling if necessary. The Women’s Studies Cell, S.D. College oversees the provision of counselling on campus.
