YCC, S.D.College Induction Programme,2023-24

The Induction Programme of the Young Communicators’ Club ,SDC chapter for 2023-24 took place at Sri K. Parthasarathy Iyengar Memorial Golden Jubilee Auditorium on 17 th November 2023 at 10.30 am.The event started off with a prayer song by Ms.Atheena Jailal (student of English department). Before begining the event the anthem of PRCI was played. Ms. Saritha M., YCC faculty co-ordinator and Asst.Professor in English extended a warm welcome to the chief guests, office bearers, teachers and all the attendees creating an inclusive atmosphere for all. Dr.Bindu Nair,Vice Principal of SDC and HOD of the English Department delivered an inspiring Presidential Address, setting the stage for the subsequent proceedings.
The oath taking ceremony of new office bearers took place under the guidance of one of the chief guests, Sri.Sujith Narayan.He administered the oath, emphasizing the commitment of the new office bearers. Parvathy Madhu (II MA English), the newly appointed President of YCC delivered a visionary acceptance speech outlining her action plan for the SDC Chapter of YCC. Other office bearers who took the oath include Nidhin Prakash (Vice President), Aiswarya K.S. (Secretary), Fahma Fathima Thoufeeque (Joint Secretary) and Revathy Krishna M (Treasurer).
Mr.Sujith Narayan,HOD of Journalism department, SH college ,Thevara addressed the audience.He talked about the importance of communication and the need for extra curricular activites along with academics.He mentioned the online art fest that YCC cordinated during the Covid period of 2021.He gave valuable insights to the attendees.He highlighted the role of communication skills in professional development, providing valuable tips for career growth .
Mr.Ram C Menon, Head of PRCI ,Kerala addressed the audience. He talked about Alappuzha and S.D. College. He talked in detail about the communication industry and PRCI in general.YCC was formed in 2013 at Hyderabad and atleast two to three programmes are conducted in its banner in SDC every year.He mentioned about the National conclave that took place in Calcutta where Chanakya and Kautilya awards were given for amazing talents and last year Ms.Saraswathy Varma V.S., a student of SDC bagged the Kautilya award.He talked about the magazine published under PRCI which aims at nurturing young talents. He hinted that the next YCC national conclave might take place in Mysore.
He said that YCC gives opportunities to young people to broaden their horizons by meeting new people and providing new opportunities. He appreciated Ms.Saritha M. for her brilliant co-ordination of the club throughout these three years.He mentioned how YCC stands for the empowerment of women and the students from poor economic backgrounds.He expressed his interest in conducting more programmes under YCC in SD college. He also added the importance of YCC in serving as a platform for learning and fostering effective communication skills. The event not only broadened participants’ perspectives, but also inspired them to apply these skills in their personal and professional lives.
The Oath Taking Ceremony culminated by 11.45 am with expressions of gratitude by Nidhin Prakash (II MA English), the newly appointed Vice President, further solidifying the spirit of camaraderie and commitment within the YCC.He expressed gratitude and delivered a heartfelt vote of thanks, acknowledging the contributions of all involved, setting a tone of appreciation.
