This year’s Prof. P. K. Padmanabhan Potti Memorial Lecture 2023-24, was held on 15th March, Friday, in the K. Parthasarathi Iyengar Golden Jubilee Hall at 10.30 am. Dr Rangarajan Gopalakrishnan, former teacher of the English Department at SD College and later, the HoD at Maharaja’s College Ernakulam, joined us as the Guest Speaker. Also, the Endowment Awards instituted in memory of our beloved teachers, Prof. P.K. Padmanabhan Potti, Prof. A.P.Kuriakose, Prof. N. Bhaskara Pillai, Prof. Lakshmy Narasimhan, Prof. T.P. Daniel and G. Akashayakumar, were distributed on the occasion to the students for their meritorious achievements at Post Graduate and Under Graduate level
P.K Padmanabhan Potti Memorial Lecture and Endowment Awards.
The PKP Memorial lecture is a prestigious programme of the Department of English, and is being conducted regularly for the
past 18 years. The most eminent personalities of the academia and public life have been speakers here. Prof. P.K.Padmanabhan Potti joined the Department of English in 1957, and quickly gained fame as a conscientious teacher and visionary educationist par excellence. He served the Department with sustained discipline, indefatigable enthusiasm and commitment for 31 years, as a teacher and as Head of the Department, till his sudden demise in 1988. The Department honours the memory of this great teacher with a memorial lecture and the distribution of endowment awards for meritorious students, instituted by his family. Memorial awards instituted in the name of erstwhile Professors A.P.Kuriakose, N. Bhaskara Pillai, Lakshmy Narasimhan, T.P. Daniel and G. Akshayakumar, are also distributed on this occasion.
